Making Dreams a Reality

Our company was founded on friendship and an undeniable belief in the power of women. We're joining forces with "Girl Starter," a new reality-competition TV show, to give girls the tools, knowledge and confidence they need to start their own businesses (which we happen to know a thing or two about at Vera Bradley)!

Our Co-founder Barbara Bradley Baekgaard challenges the girls to design the perfect bag while staying true to the hallmarks of our brand: unexpected solutions, beauty inside and out and a little bit of fun.

Going, going ... get them before they're gone (again)

The styles that sold out within 24 hours are back in stock! Hurry – quantities are limited and won’t last long. Available online or on the official Girl Starter tour.

VB Story - Babara

Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer
Barbara co-founded Vera Bradley in 1982 with her close friend Patricia Miller after noticing a lack of colorful, feminine luggage in the marketplace. She shares stories of how to be more, create more and do more the Vera Bradley way in her new book, "A Colorful Way of Living." She's also the co-founder of the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, which to date has raised over $28 million for breast cancer research. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her four children and thirteen grandchildren as often as she can!

“ It was very exciting to be part of the entire 'Girl Starter' process. All of the contestants were very energetic and had great ideas. All were winners in my opinion.”

VB Story - Emily

Emily, Design Associate
Emily attended North Carolina State University College of Textiles (go, Wolfpack!). She completed multiple internships in the retail industry before joining Vera Bradley over five years ago. She plays an important role in our design and product development, and seeing someone carry a bag she's worked on validates her hard work. She had so much fun filming “Girl Starter,” and it reminded her why she feels so lucky to call this her job every day.

“ The girls were so enthusiastic, motivated and super supportive of each other — it was incredibly inspiring! It was fun for me to give them a glimpse of what we do every day. Overall, it just felt like a week full of girl power! The show was such a special thing to be a part of and made it feel SO GOOD to be a girl!

VB Story - Kelli

Kelli, Product Development Manager
Kelli received her Apparel Merchandising degree from Indiana University and her MBA from Indiana Tech. She first started at Vera Bradley in the shipping department when she was a high school senior, and her career has grown quite a bit since! She's enjoyed her current role for over six years, which allows her to help women express themselves through their bag choices. She’s motivated by learning and growing every day and, as a "Girl Starter" mentor, she was able to do just that.

“ It was exciting to see how the girls took the challenge and ran with it right away. They were very creative and worked well together. They also put a lot of thought into their design, which made it even more meaningful.”
