Good umbrella for mild weather First couple of uses, difficult to open and close, I was actually going to get rid of it. I tried it again and decided to keep it - it was much easier to open and close after a few uses. The small size fits nicely into many bags. It's also good as an extra umbrella to keep in the car. Not good in wind. Best for light rain showers. I'd give it a 3.5 score overall but had to pick between 3 and 4 and it's slightly closer to a 4. June 2, 2014
Cute but not worth the hassle I own a lot of Vera products and have a good bit of knowledge of them. I bought this in Go Wild when it launched and was pretty excited about it. Pretty sassy and fashionable. I really was hopeful because it would have been the perfect accessory to my new travel set of Plum Crazy/Go Wild. However, the day it rained- two days after I purchased it- it wouldn't stay opened. I'm 5' 1" and very petite, and it barely protected me from the rain. I got soaked on the way to work which wasn't fun. It wasn't a particularly heavy rain either. So it's considered a light umbrella with the same usefulness of a parasol. The pop up and close button was nice...in theory. However, it only works half the time. And usually it decides to pick the time when it's raining. Because when I left work and tried it again- when it wasn't raining- I was finally able to close it. I asked others who had Vera umbrellas if they had similar problems and the reviews were mixed. Certainly, it's not the sturdiest umbrella out there of its size. I wish the top opened bigger and the handle was sturdier. Vera please update! Until then, this looker isn't work the high maintenance. Exchanging for something that won't turn on me. January 12, 2013
Good umbrella, but past models are higher quality. I have the new umbrella design in Tutti Frutti. My mom has the umbrella in a pattern from a few years back, Safari Sunset. There is a noticeable difference in quality. For example, the handle on my mom's is metal; mine's plastic. When you open my mom's umbrella, the mechanisms are strong - it springs outward with a little force and opens all the way after pressing the button. Mine's weaker - it opens halfway when you press the button, and then stops, meaning you have to open it the rest of the way yourself. However, my new umbrella is still very nice. It does a good job keeping the rain off my head, looks cute, opens every time I press the button, the closing strap seems well-attached, and it came with a matching cover. I'm not sorry that I got it, and I would recommend it over a cheap-o one. Had I never known what the past umbrellas were like, I would love it. But since I know and was looking forward to getting one exactly like my mom's, I'm a little disappointed. July 8, 2013
