Ultimate Backpack 3.4 5 13 13
Almost perfect I got this backpack in African Violet. I am a college student that does mostly distance learning classes so it is great to keep my school stuff in. I am able to fit a binder, two spiral notebooks, three text books, and a brush and pencil case with my writing utensils in it. I was going to use the front flap pocket to put my iPad 2 with a VB case in. Wrong. My iPad will fit in the pocket, but the flap will not close. Since that didn't work, I tried to fit it in the slip pocket behind the flap pocket, but it isn't wide enough. I wish they would of tested the pockets with all iPads to make sure they would fit, especially in one of their own cases. That is the only reason I gave this backpack four stars. Otherwise, I would recommend this backpack to anyone. August 13, 2014
Would be perfect with a few tweaks When I first saw this backpack in the store I instantly fell in love! Instantly I had to run out to the car to grab my iPad to check that it would fit in the front padded tablet pocket. Unfortunately, my iPad would not fit into the front padded pocket (under the flap) because it is in a case. It would have fit perfectly had VB added (stronger) magnets a little higher up to allow for different closure heights (like on the Saddle Up). If I take my iPad air out of the case it fits perfectly, but who carries their iPad w/o case protection? No one I know. I just wish that VB would give a few extra inches on their tech compartments to allow room for tech devices that may be in protective cases, which I'm sure most people do. However, my iPad does fit in the slip pocket just behind the iPad pocket (which is meant for magazines), but it is not protected from the elements. I use the tablet pocket for my book. The interior is roomy, and is great to allow me to carry my wallet, glasses, cosmetics bag, and even a diaper & wipes case so I can leave my diaper bag in the car when running in stores with my daughter. The only thing I would change for this pocket would be to place the zipper pocket either lower in the bag so it doesn't conflict with the back zip pocket, or lower the back zip pocket so they stagger one another. If you place items in the back zip pocket as well as the interior pocket, the bag becomes top heavy, and it's hard to get items in/out of the main compartment for the top bulk of the bag. Still, the bag does have room to get your essentials inside, which is nice for a working mom who doesn't want to carry another large bag with her (in lieu of my VB laptop carryall). Still, I find that my biggest pet-peeve about this bag is the fact that you cannot use the side exterior (water bottle) pockets for water bottles. I have tried all sorts of bottles, and I have yet to find one that fit. VB should have given a little more room, and maybe even an elastic rim around this pocket to allow water bottles to fit inside, and to keep items from falling out. Like another person mentioned, it would have been nice to also see a key ring attached to one of the exterior pockets as well. Instead, I have to still find a water bottle that is not too large, and is 100% leak proof so I can carry it inside the bag w/o risking it leaking onto my iPad. (Maybe they should line the table pocket in plastic for extra protection from leaks...?) Overall, this bag is a great bag, and it would be perfect should some of the flaws be fixed in the next edition. I certainly think that VB is on the right track with this addition. I look forward to see the improvements on the next update! :) August 7, 2014
New smaller backpack Vera has many backpack styles now but some of us still prefer the smaller version to use as a purse. They are now making the smaller one larger which is not what I want. I have several backpacks from previous seasons and I prefer the older ones as they are smaller. If I wanted to carry books and iPads I would buy the larger ones. Also would like the side pockets alittle larger for my water bottle. I hope they move back to a smaller version. August 5, 2014
Love it !!! Purchased in heather....Does exactly what I need it to do and serves all my purposes. Had originally bought the tech backpack (too roomy & bulky) but exchanged it for this untimate backpack. I am very happy now :D August 5, 2014
Please rework this backpack. I have owned your original backpack and have used it as my purse/pack for international travel and trips to the zoo and fairs with my grandkids. It has been wonderful as it had a place for my water bottle AND a zip pocket on the BACK to keep my money and documents secure! Sadly, it finally wore out and I now need to replace it. I was excited to see this new version, but after I read the reviews, I guess I will still have to wait for a backpack with a back zip pocket, water bottle pocket, and functional inside pockets. Please work on this. I am waiting. August 1, 2014
NOT functional for back to school I bought this for my 12 year old daughter, she's so disappointed. The backpack wouldn't even fit her ONE binder. Realistically, it's too small for any child beyond preschool. July 27, 2014
Love it! I love the new design! I especially appreciate that the metal hardware on the straps is lower down on the strap. On past versions, when I had the straps adjusted to the length comfortable for me, that metal always rubbed against my inner arms as I walked. Very annoying, to the point where I stopped using my Vera backpack. This new version doesn't do that--thank you!!! I, too, am a little stumped as to why the side pockets are not sized to hold a water bottle. I don't mind though, as I can find other uses for those pockets, however it is a little strange as I imagine water bottles are what most people would want to put there. The only thing I wish they would add is a ring or key fob inside the front flap. It would be great to be able to attach my keys or my Vera Clip Zip ID and have confidence that they would not fall out or get lost. Overall, though, I love this new backpack! July 14, 2014
great new design! I love that the new design is big enough for me to carry my Macbook Air when I need to, as well as file folders. I wish the side pockets were big enough for a water bottle, but I've been able to slip my bottle in the new pocket behind the front pocket. I love the pink swirls color, would like it in classic black. Finally a backpack that doesn't look like a schoolbag yet is functional enough for work. Thanks Vera! July 9, 2014
Awesome Backpack for school Love it love it yes yes yes Vera Bradley all the way!!! July 9, 2014
A huge backpack now-not a keeper I was really excited to get the new backpack hoping that the new front pockets and slightly larger size would impress me. However, it is much larger in the main body (I think almost a full blown backpack for school) and the small pockets underneath the front of the flap are hard to get things in and out of. It still has the same side pockets as the backpack and the trim on the front is now gone to make it more fashionable or maybe to save on cost to VB. As I examined mine over the weekend, I sadly took it back new and unused to the store on Sunday. If you are looking for a bag to carry a whole lot of stuff in in the main compartment and not to use this bag for a small backpack style purse like I was planning to use mine for, you may like it. I would rather that VB kept the size of the regular backpack and just added some pockets to the front flap where an Ipad is supposed to go. I hope that the original sized backpack returns in the new patterns. July 1, 2014
