This just arrived today and I am so happy and excited to start using it. I had been looking for something to use as a handbag while out and about with my 4 yr-old and 9-month old children (that would keep my hands free). I previously ordered, but returned another brand-name backpack. When my Vera Bradley Ultimate Backpack arrived, I knew it was exactly what I wanted; smart and stylish (love the quilted navy with patent piping), and great functionality. It's feminine looking and not too bulky - lots of extra compartments to store snacks and supplies for the kiddos, my wallet, phone, etc. The quality is great too - nice material, custom VB hardware, and the adjustable straps are actually in a looped design, so whatever amount of material you aren't using, it doesn't hang down sloppily (like the backpack I returned from another brand). I'm gushing here...but I can't wait to start wearing it!

I love this backpack. I've had it before many years ago, and was looking forward to having a newer one. However, the stitching that holds the front pocket on is already coming unraveled. I don't want to send it back, but will probably have to get it repaired. I'm so disappointed that I have to invest more money into this bag, because I feel like it was already above what I would normally spend. Not so sure I would recommend to a friend.

I owned an ultimate backpack that I bought in 2012 or 2013. I loved it except the fabric started to wear. I ordered the new ultimate backpack expecting the same size backpack, but it's larger size made it cumbersome. The handle hit the back of my head when on my back. The redesigned front pocket with its two pockets and two snaps did not close properly when I put my keys in one of the pockets. I was also disappointed in the patent leather trim. It lacked sophistication in my eyes. Disappointed in many ways, I returned it. I wish Vera Bradley had kept the original size and design.
