College Student Approves!
I take the bus to college and I needed my backpack to be comfortable on my shoulders and back. I had a Jan sport big students backpack. I hated that it didn't have a secure place to put my laptop and with all my books the backpack looked weird and was a strain on my back. This is my first Vera Bradley product and I am impressed! The pocket for the laptop had more than enough space for my laptop (HP Touchscreen 15.6 inches) and there was no strain on my back. The backpack appears small but it can carry A LOT. It carries all the stuff that my Jan Sport bag carried. This backpack is worth it! Its sooooo comfortable to carry around for long periods of time if you walk a lot like me. And its super cute!
In the laptop pocket I have there:
- my HP 15.6 inches laptop
-2 folders full of papers
In the Main Compartment I have
-1 big text book
-2 of the 3 subject spirals
And with still some room to spare
In the small upper pocket I have:
-pencils, highlighters, pens
And plenty room left!
In the medium size front pocket I have:
-sun glasses case
Hopefully this helps!

Best VB Backpack EVER
As a long term, highly addicted VB fan, I feel exceptionally qualified to proclaim this as the best VB backpack ever! I have used them for years, for school, then as a diaper bag, and now as my main work bag. I also buy them each year for my children for school. This newest style is my favorite work bag ever. It has a place for my MacAir, a compartment on the front for my iPad, pockets on each side for phone and keys, and a small zippered compartment on the front that is perfect for pens, lipgloss, mints, eye drops, Kleenex, etc, all the little items you don't want to dig around for. The main compartment holds tons of stuff and includes a roomy zippered compartment that holds meds and supplies you want to keep private. The straps are wide, well padded and super comfy. The only thing missing is a zippered compartment on the back for my wallet. My daughter loves hers for school too!

Far From Perfect
Vera keeps coming up with new backpacks, but they just can't quite get it right for the traveler who doesn't want to manhandle something like a Weekender or Grand Cargo Bag through an airport and onto a plane. I have had a Laptop Backpack for about four years. I love it and it has traveled with me for more than 200,000 air miles internationally and domestically plus all my land travels. When the Tech Backpack came out with the new computer compartment zipper realigned, I was hopeful that it would be a newer replacement to my old workhorse Laptop Backpack and be a little larger for more room as a carry-on. But for me it is worthless without the trolley sleeve.
Vera, are you listening? Here is what I would really like in a travel backpack:
**Backpack the size of the Lighten Up
**WIDE Trolley sleeve mandatory like the Laptop Backpack
**Laptop compartment with easy access like Tech Backpack
**Large main compartment for my airplane necessities - noise cancelling headphones, books, power cords for my computer and iPhone, snacks, some clothing/swimsuit in case my baggage gets lost, guide books, etc.
** Side pockets like Laptop Backpack for my phone and water
**Usable front zipper compartment like Laptop Backpack for pens, business cards, Tech Case, wallet, gum, passport, highlighters, etc.
Each Vera backpack has something to recommend it, but not one has everything right. To do so would mean taking the best of the backpacks out there now and creating another "AMAZING TRAVEL BACKPACK." Laptop Backpack is just a bit too small and needs more room and a better zipper alignment for the computer compartment. It has a trolley sleeve for easy travel through the airport on a rolling carry on, and when it's not and is on my back, I have maximum hands free capability for getting into my wallet or maneuvering jetways with the roll-on. The Tech Backpack is a loser for me because it is without a trolley sleeve (why on earth did you take it away?) and is not roomier than the Laptop Backpack. The Lighten Up Backpack is just perfect for size, but needs a laptop compartment and a trolley sleeve. It would be nice if it was the same Vera patterns, but I would rather have a backpack that works as a great travel tool and is sturdy. As it is, I'm stuck with a Laptop Backpack just because of the trolley sleeve and my desire to have hands-free capability since I travel by air often, not to mention that the weight is easily distributed on my shoulders rather than to be pulled one side or another as would be with a Grand Cargo, Grand Traveler, or Weekender.
Anyway, please give those of us who want to travel abroad with a backpack as a carry-on a model that includes features as noted. I have more than 20 Vera pieces plus I buy Vera as gifts, and it's almost an addiction with me; at least it's an attractive addiction! I can't stop, and frankly, don't want to. Vera is just so much fun.
