Messenger Baby Bag
Now I Love It!
I purchased this bag and the Make a Change ( LOVE!) at the same time. I bought this one in the black microfiber and got it mostly for use by my husband if he should ever need to take our daughter anywhere solo so that he didn't have to use a "girly" looking bag, nor does he need a bag big enough to accommodate all the stuff I pack for myself. After getting it home I must admit that I didn't really like it, and I couldn't see ever using it myself. And so it sat on the shelf. Fast forward a few months. My daughter is now 13 months old and I no longer carry quite as much excess stuff as I used to unless we're going on a day trip. She no longer needs several changes of clothes or as many diapers, so I found myself feeling like I was hauling around luggage with my other diaper bags and so decided to give this one a go. To my surprise it has quickly become my everyday runaround diaper bag! I fit about 4-6 diapers (size 3) into one of the mesh interior pockets, the wipes container in the one beside it, and various other things (snacks, extra socks, my glasses case, my wallet, toys, etc) around the other pockets. In the main area I keep a small knit blanket, a few toys, a small cosmetics case, the changing pad, my Halo charger and anything else we might need for the day. The front slip pockets sometimes hold my phone or something else I need quick access to, but I mostly use of the end pockets. The end pockets always have a container of hand sanitizer. My daughter is currently tube-fed, so I don't use a bottle since I keep her food and supplies in a separate insulated bag, but you could easily fit a couple bottles inside or outside in its intended space. I often use the large zippered pocket to hold my iPad or a magazine and just leave it unzipped. But I have also used it for my my personal things (gum, lipgloss, compact) instead of using a cosmetics bag. It's a very large pocket and holds a lot. At first I wished the bag zipped closed instead of just having a flap, but now I like it because I can get something out one-handed.
All in all, I really like the simplicity of this bag. No, it doesn't hold the kitchen sink, but it holds just enough. It is lightweight and easy to carry along with a child, so for me that is a huge plus as I am a chronic overpacker. If there were two things I would change about this I would really like to see a key clip inside the bag and I also wish the bag was just slightly larger inside, especially in the winter. I was able to get my daughter's jacket in here, but the flap did not stay in place very well. You definitely cannot overfill this bag due to the structure. Maybe that's a good thing ;-) But still I think with just an extra inch in the interior (from front to back), it would be perfect.

Bought bag for work, but unsure about flap
I have been looking high and low for a simple and somewhat casual black/gray messenger bag to use to carry files to and from the law firm that I work at. I saw this baby messenger bag on the Vera Bradley website and I LOVED it! I emailed Vera Bradley and I asked them if they had a normal messenger bag in classic black that is NOT a baby bag and I was told no. I thought I would buy the bag and that maybe I could make it work as a messenger bag for work rather than a baby bag, but after I received it the mail, I am not so sure anymore. I am concerned about the magnetic flap because it does not securely close. I have another Vera Bradley messenger bag and there is a fastener on the flap, so I just assumed this one would too. It is my fault for assuming this and not reading the description closely. It is a great looking bag, but I am unsure if I will keep it because of the flap not fastening. I really wish Vera Bradley would sell this exact bag as a messenger bag too - I think it would be very popular!!!!! :)
