Compliment-Getter Work Tote Very pleased with the Campus Tote in Very Berry Paisley as my pretty and functional work tote. The two outside pockets securely accommodate an umbrella and office keys in one pocket, and a SubZero 25oz water thermos in the other pocket. The Lunch Date fits nicely inside the tote (especially if I load it in before the thermos) and I still have room for a shrug or cardigan and small miscellaneous items. The bag stands upright on it's own and the handles drop out of the way for easy access into the tote. There are two final points I would add for your consideration: (1) The magnetic closure does not close with tall or bulky items (such as my daily gear). And (2) there are two inside slip pockets, but this would have earned 5 stars if there were a zip pocket instead of one of the slip pockets, especially given that the magnetic closure is not very secure. Perfect bag!! I bought this bag as a birthday gift to myself today and already I'm in love with it!! I LOVE the outer pockets for easy storage for my phone or keys. The inside is nice and roomy with pockets to hold "grab fast" items, like gum or sunglasses. I'm buying one for my friend as a gift as she thought mine was beautiful. This is my new, favorite bag!! I want the pleated tote back! The handles on my pleated tote were finally going, I use it everyday for the past.. 2 maybe 3 years and I was looking for a replacement. Unfortunately this is not it. It's just too small. It doesn't have a zipper which is apparently a deal breaker for me. The pockets just aren't big enough. I'm going to replace the handles on my pleated tote instead of buying a new bag. April 10, 2013
Perfect for me! I was hesitant to buy this because of the lack of zipper but glad I did. I'm a high school teacher and needed a bag that would be able to accommodate for my professional and personal belongings and this did it! I can easily fit my ipad, laptop with charger, lunch bag, and a 1inch binder. The deep pockets inside allow me to put my wallet, Chapstick and other small items. I love the outside pockets! It fits my water bottle and /or coffee thermos. Also, my ID and keys can fit in the outside pockets so I'm not digging for classroom keys in the bag. I thought I would need the top to be zippered but found that the items are secure enough to stay with only the magnetic closure. When not used for school/work, I use it to carry diapers, wipes, and baby essentials for my two year old son and 7 mos. old. I got the very berry paisley and it is more beautiful than in the picture. Definitely very versatile for my needs. This is my second VB bag and I absolutely love it! Btw, I'm 5' and it doesn't look huge on me. March 23, 2013
Not really a tote I would not consider this a tote nor would I consider it the type of bag you could really use on campus. It's actually quite small - my purse is bigger than this. I did refer to the dimensions before ordering it but it is still much smaller than anticipated and, to me, definitely not worth the price. I had read some of reviews that stated similar thoughts but I thought I would give it a try because a lot of people seemed to love it and it worked for their needs. I'm not sure what you could tote around in it. I knew it wouldn't be for heavy duty use but I did think it would be kind of a mid size tote for lighter days. I'm just kind of disappointed... It's no pleated tote Please bring back the pleated tote! This is no substitution for it! The side pockets don't fit a water bottle well, the lack of pleats means a lack of space, the lack of zipper means my belongings aren't secure, and the rolled handles hurt! As it is, I'm trying to figure out how I can make my own pleated tote in lilli bell by purchasing some aprons or something!! March 19, 2013
Ideal Wanted something bigger for work. Wasn't sure when I got it. But it is perfect! Plenty of room but it doesn't look like I'm carrying luggage into the office everyday. Rolled handles are great. Very berry paisley is so much prettier than in the pictures. Side pockets are perfect for my water and coffee. Slightly tapered body Is a nice touch. Stays closed. March 5, 2013
My Fave Bag Ever! I bought this tote in Plum Crazy with my gift card from my grandparents for Christmas. I am so in love with this bag and the colors are amazing! I walk to work and this bag is large enough to carry all my everyday items and extras like my lunch bag and winter gloves and hat. I love the side pockets for my lip balm collection and tissues. I can't wait to get this bag in more colors. I wish I had had this bag during my college days!!! January 30, 2013
Shouldn't be called a "tote", but an AWESOME purse It took me awhile to write a review on this bag. In fact, I've never written a review on a Vera product, but this one I felt compelled. I bought this style simply because I needed a tote and the 18 1/4" Get Carried Away was WAY too large. I opted for this one that is listed at 17" width. It's also one of the only bags left with quilted interior pockets. I LOVE quilted interior pockets rather than the loose material pockets (altho VB does a great job securing loose material pockets) . I felt compelled to review this bag because it should NOT be identified as a TOTE. Unless Very Berry Paisley has different measurements, I cannot find one area that is larger than 16" and that's only the top part if it's squished flat. 17" must be a misprint. The base has about 11" width and the majority of the bag is approx. 13"-14" width. This is a handbag/purse. I am not a purse carrier (I use a double kiss wallet only), and this bag makes me want to carry a purse! The straps are comfortable, they don't slip off of my shoulders and I love that it has 2 straps so the bag opens fully when I want it to. I hate needing a flashlight to see into a restricted purse opening. I also love how my arm easily slips into the drop and the bag sits very nicely under my arm. I LOVE this bag as a purse. I can fit a full sized day planner in horizontally and still snap the closure. I also have my kindle with leather cover, an umbrella, my 24oz water bottle, double kiss clutch wallet and there's still plenty of room for smaller items without looking bulky! My iPhone with otterbox defender fits nicely into the quilted slip pocket inside - and still room. In fact, my kindle fits perfectly vertically in the slip pocket inside if that gives you an indication of the size. My kindle has about 1" exposed on top to give you an idea of how deep the interior pocket is. If my kindle is in the interior pocket it does tend to make the bag look alittle more bulky with everything I listed above. It fits inside the main compartment just fine so when I carry all of the above I put my smaller items in the interior pockets. The only complaint I would have in using this as a purse (if I had to find a complaint) is that there is no interior zipper compartment like many of the VB handbags have for your personal items. There's still plenty of room to carry those in a small zipper pouch of some sort though. January 30, 2013
I. Love. This. Bag. I bought this bag around Christmas as a present to myself, and I am so glad I did. I'm a big bag kind of person, and this purse does everything I could possibly need it to do. The side pockets on the outside are great for my phone, keys and my collection of ChapStick. The inside pockets are great for my kindle and my planner, and other things that need a home other than the middle of my purse. The inside of the purse is big and roomy and holds everything I have and then some. It even holds my MacBook if I need to bring it to work. If you're a big bag kind of person, and need a new purse, I would highly highly highly recommend this bag to you. January 27, 2013
