Exellent Hands Free Diaper Bag I purchased this diaper bag in Dogwood print in November last year when my baby was almost 4 months old. After 5 months of daily use, it's still in excellent condition and looks just as nice as the day I bought it. The vinyl inside wipes clean with a damp cloth and the included changing pad washes really well and holds up. We've had a few big messes and the fabric doesn't stain at all. It's plenty big without being overly huge. To give you an idea of the size, I typically carry 2 outfits, a jacket, extra pacifiers, two bottles, a travel formula container, baby snacks, sani-wipes, lotion, toys, washcloths, and a wet bag in the main compartment plus 4-6 diapers, diaper cream, disposal diaper trash bags, wipes, and an additional changing pad in the front pocket and a water bottle and some mints in the side pockets. I'll also toss my phone, wallet, keys, and glasses into the front slit pocket on occasion. Another benefit is the back pack style. The straps are very comfortable and don't dig into my shoulders like some of the crossbody styles I've tried. It's nice to have both hands free when dealing with a wiggly baby and the bag will comfortably fit in my stroller's basket. I also babywear and the backpack is easy to wear while also wearing my baby in a front carry. I highly recommend this bag... once you use a backpack, you'll never go back to typical diaper bags. No babies, but I bought it for travel My family is well past the baby years... we're all potty trained, can eat big people food, and don't need the 5 million things that babies need. I purposefully purchased this bag anyway and it's perfect. (This bag would be perfect for it's intended use too... as a diaper bag.) I bought this baby backpack because we travel a lot. We are not fair weather travelers. We are out of the hotel room at dawn and back at dusk travelers. We are like mailmen and neither rain, nor sleet, nor heat is cause to stay in. I have always used my cloth VB bookbag (an older style that I don't believe they make anymore), which is an inch or two smaller in every dimension than this bag. In that smaller bag, I've been able to carry our five umbrellas, snacks for five people, my youngest's mid-size stuffed animal, two water bottles, our video camera, my wallet, phone, and personal items, a light sweater, and any small purchases along the way. Clearly, as the baby bag is bigger, I'll be able to carry more. Even though VB has other backpacks in similar dimensions to the baby backpack, I chose this baby bag instead because it is vinyl lined. The entire exterior is the fabric like most VB bags, but that interior has a nice thick, yet not stiff laminated lining. It is obviously a little more stiff than the pure cloth only bags, but not much. That vinyl lining is huge for me. Last year we went on a trip where it rained cats and dogs every single day. Even though I used ziplock bags, I could not keep my cloth backpack from taking on dampness. Everything in it was damp, from the sweaters to the plastic bag that held the electronics. I feel that the vinyl lining in this bag will make it so much better if we're ever in that type of travel situation again. Just an extra layer of protection against the elements. Further, my kids are potty trained, but even grade school kids can have an occasional night accident. I put down a washable pad under the fitted sheet of their bed just in case (disposable pads make them sweat). I think this changing pad would work nicely for that as the top is terry cloth lined and it has a thin vinyl backing. Lastly, zappos has better photos of the bag and even a video showing a person opening the compartments. It helped me get a better idea and as I was using the bag for something other than a diaper bag, I needed to see all those pockets, etc. February 19, 2014
No babies- awesome backpack!!!! I was looking for a backpack that would fit my 13" MacBook Air in a case, and would be good for travel. I saw the other VB backpacks but they didn't quite fit my needs. I skipped over this at first, thinking it would be a bulky diaper bag. But it is definitely not, and this is great for anyone! The front pocket with the changing pad is PERFECT for my laptop, it even has 2 mesh pockets that you can put chargers/accessories in. Easy access if you need to remove for airport security. The main pocket is roomy and has 4 more mesh pockets. On the sides there are 2 bottle pockets that are big enough for even big 20oz bottles, Then on the front there is a magnetic close slim pocket for things you need to reach quickly. The great thing about this backpack is that it is COMPLETLY lined with a plastic-y material that makes it super easy to keep clean. You can just wipe it down at any time, also the side pockets for bottles don't get soaked through because they are lined on one side! The backpack is super comfortable to wear, I really love this one!! November 24, 2014
