Fort Wayne, Ind. (Sept 17, 2009) – Vera Bradley, internationally known designer of handbags, travel items, stationery and accessories will open four stores in four states over the next three months. Three of the stores will be full price stores and the fourth store will be Vera Bradley's first outlet store.
Currently, Vera Bradley has more than 3,400 retailers nationwide and owns 24 Vera Bradley stores across the country. The decision to open more retail stores arose due to continuous sales growth at Vera Bradley's corporate-owned stores.
"It's unusual to be able to say a retail store's sales are up, especially in the last two years, and we are happy we can say that the vast majority of our 24 Vera Bradley corporate-owned stores have experienced double digit comp store growth," says David Thompson, vice president of retail for Vera Bradley. "The success of the stores comes from a huge fan base that loves the product and the importance Vera Bradley places on exceptional customer service."
Square footage will range from approximately 1,400 to 2,200, and each retail store will employ around 10 people, with the outlet store employing about 20-30 team members. Each store's concept includes a fun environment featuring the entire range of Vera Bradley products and will carry the complete Vera Bradley line, including handbags, eyewear, rolling luggage, tableware, stationery, rugs, accessories and men's ties. The product mix at the outlet store will be different than at the full price stores and will have a discount of about 35%.
