Fort Wayne, Ind. (July 24, 2008) – What’s the buzz about? After the famed 4-year-old Vera Bradley Queen Bee Balloon took a fall during the Three River’s Festival Parade a couple of weeks ago, Vera Bradley is happy to report that the Queen Bee is in stable condition. She is currently resting in Michigan at her family’s hive.
A representative from Dynamic Displays (the company that created and houses the Queen Bee, located in Michigan) says, “We plan to begin surgery next week and expect her to make a full recovery.”
The Queen Bee punctured her eye and wing on Saturday, July 12 when she flew into a light pole during Fort Wayne’s Three Rivers Festival Parade. If surgery goes well, the Queen should be able to fly again as soon as the first week of August. There are currently no plans for the Queen to make an appearance at any other parades this summer.
“Vera Bradley has high hopes that the Queen Bee will be back to lead her hive at the 2009 Three Rivers Festival Parade,” says Monica Edwards, Vera Bradley director of brand communications.
