Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer
Our company's primary philanthropy is the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, which concentrates its efforts on supporting cutting-edge Breast Cancer research. Since our founders Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Patricia R. Miller founded the Foundation and began raising funds in memory of their friend and co-worker Mary Sloan in 1998, the Vera Bradley Foundation has contributed more than $15 million to Breast Cancer research. All funds raised support the talented clinicians and researchers working toward a cure in the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research Laboratories at the Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis.

Vera Bradley donates approximately $1 million annually to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.

More Philanthropic Causes

Vera Bradley recognizes and appreciates the valuable role our community has played in our success. That is why we make it a point to give generously to many worthy causes. We are proud to be able to support the friends and families from our community.

The partial list below represents some of the diverse causes and fundraisers we have supported in the past:f

Ride for Riley (July 14, 2012)
The giant red wagon represents our community's hope for strong, healthy children today and in the future.

Since 2007, Vera Bradley employees and their families have been invited to participate in changing children's lives by walking, pulling a wagon or riding on the float in the Three Rivers Festival Parade in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Majic 95.1 and Vera Bradley have joined forces to help garner awareness and raise funds for Riley Hospital for Children with "Ride for Riley." Riley Hospital for Children is committed to providing the highest quality health care to children in a family-centered environment. As a national leader in cutting-edge research and medical education, they ensure health care excellence for children for generations to come. Riley provides medical care to all Indiana children, regardless of a family's ability to pay.

United Way Day of Caring (August 2, 2012)
What began in 1993 as a general sprucing up of the YWCA campus involving 250 volunteers has evolved into a massive community-wide effort that brings volunteers face-to-face with local nonprofit and community organizations.

Approximately 1,100 volunteers headed out into the community on Thursday, August 2, for the 20th annual United Way Day of Caring. Teams from more than 60 local businesses, organizations and organized labor rolled up their sleeves and worked on service projects throughout the Fort Wayne area.

Vera Bradley offered employees the opportunity to take a day off and volunteer for the day with pay. A team of 85 Vera Bradley employees from across all departments signed up and worked all day at a local elementary school and local women's shelter. They spent the day weeding, landscaping beds, spreading new mulch, and painting playground equipment, parking lines and a beautiful mural for the school hallway.

Aboite New Trails
In 2011, Vera Bradley completed a 300,000 pledge to link nearly 50 miles of walking/biking trails across Fort Wayne.

"We love the idea of connecting all of Fort Wayne to a better quality of life," says Patricia Miller, Vera Bradley Co-founder. "This one-time opportunity to finish a regional trail corridor that at once improves health, safety, economic development and community vibrancy was one we couldn't pass up, especially given the permanency of it. We know that everyone will be positively impacted, and for generations to come."
