Almost but not quite
I ordered the Saddle up in Provencal and it was beautiful. I picked the bag because I was looking for a larger cross body style and thought it would work. However, in spite of good size and features it's going back because of one thing: the interior slip pockets are too shallow for my purposes. Neither glasses nor checkbook would stay. If you would use them for different things I would recommend this bag as it seems like a workhorse. Provencal is more beautiful in natural light than online pix or store lighting suggests.

Prefer the "Old" Saddle Up purse.
This is a cute purse. The magnet has held up well, but I prefer the old Saddle Up bag with the ring.

Getting one with a flap was a mistake
I bought this purse on sale in November 2013. As of February 1, 2014, the magnet in the flap moved out of its housing and now the purse doesn't close properly unless I "find" the magnet every time. It has become very annoying and it's too late to send it back for a refund.

I miss the OLD VERSION!!!!
Please bring back the Saddle Up in the old version! I absolutely love the look of the bag with the pleats and ring. It looks much nicer than the newer version. I think the newer version looks cheaply made compared to the old version. Definitely not near as nice! I would love to have an old Saddle Up in the new spring pattern, Clementine! It would be absolutely perfect!

The old Saddle-up was better
I was fairly leery when I received the Saddle-up in Provencal for Christmas this past year, having seen so many negative reviews about the re-design of my former favorite. However, I did like the pattern a good bit, and it was a gift, so I started using it. But here I am, less than a month later, and I've barely used it and the magnet is already loose in the flap. For comparison, I have the Saddle-up in Poppy Fields and the magnet recently became loose after about four years of regular use as my go-to bag. Disappointing. Also disappointing to see that Vera Bradley, instead of fixing the design flaws, seems to have decided to just ditch the style altogether. I would really love to see the original design of this bag get resurrected! I own it in three patterns, obviously I'd be thrilled to own it in more!

FAVORITE VERA BAG EVER
I have owned lots Vera Bradley bags. Different styles, different colors. This bag in Very Berry Paisley is my all time favorite. I have owned it for two years now and have used it almost the entire time. Every time I try a new handbag, after a couple of weeks, I bring back the Saddle Up bag and use it for a month or two. The amount of pockets is perfect to keep things organized; and the two outside pockets are awesome. One for iPhone 5 and one for my lip products. The size is perfect because it prevents me from adding everything and the kitchen sink, but it has enough room for me to carry everything I need onto a plane without a carry on. (Water bottle, Kindle, wallet, cosmetic bag, meds, etc.) I love this bag and would buy it again in my favorite patterns. (I am a bit picky with the patterns.) A word on Very Berry Paisley. Favorite pattern ever. It is perfect for someone who's favorite color is pink.

I have 4 saddle up purses. I have trouble with zippers, so this one is perfect for me. I have read the low reviews, which surprises me. I have both versions, the new one without the ring ane older one with the ring. I do not have any trouble with the new version staying closed,

Not happy with new version
First for the pros: "Saddle Up"is my favorite bag for traveling. Love the crossbody straps. I always feel my belongings are secure when traveling. Love all the room and easy access to the main compartment. It really holds a lot. I love it so much that I purchased another in a lighter color. Now for the cons: I miss the three inside pockets. My things were organized and easier to locate. I also prefer the old flap w/metal ring. To me it looks nicer. There has never been an issue with the flap or magnet on my original. I find myself grabbing the original bag over the new bag more often. Even though I love the new lighter color. I gave it a four because it is still a nice bag, just not my original. Please bring back the original.

BRING BACK THE SADDLE UP
How many likes and positive reviews will it take before the Vera Bradley Design Team wakes up? The Saddle Up, both versions, is excellent! It has plenty of room without being too big. I'm partial to the latest version because of the zippered-pocket on the back, but both versions are capable of holding all I need, including a tablet.
The long strap is the ace in the hole for this bag. It's a light-weight Crossbody with a lot of pockets and security. I put my phone in the front pocket and have no trouble getting to it with ease! Keys too! Plus, the bag opens up wide for super easy access to anything inside. I love that!
It's a shame we can't buy the Saddle Up in the latest patterns. I won't use any other Vera Bradley style. So that means, unless Vera Bradley brings this bag back to the fans, I won't be spending my money at Vera Bradley. That pains me.
Fellow consumers, if you haven't tried the Saddle Up, please give it a chance. It really is the perfect bag.
Design Team, please listen! With all due respect, you've made a mistake by discontinuing this bag.

I have MANY Vera bags in various styles and patterns. I found the Saddle Up in Sun Valley on sale and thought I'd give it a try! It is amazing!! The front flap is easy & convenient to use. The slip pockets in the front are perfect for cell phones and other gadgets. The inside pocket is plenty big for your everyday items, plus a Kindle or small tablet. I find the back zipper is perfect for receipts, papers, change, etc. and keeps my main compartment free from that extra clutter!! I have fallen in LOVE with my Saddle Up and SUN VALLEY!! Perfect for an AUBURN girl!! War Eagle!!
