On the Go
Great purse with the right amount of pockets
I first purchased this bag a few years ago in Jazzy Blooms and have been watching for a sale in the same pattern to replace the original so I can continue to use my matching wallet. The strap on the original is worn out and fraying but was used much as I'm a one purse at a time person. I love the convenience of the two outside pockets. One side for my keys, the other for my key ring full of shopping reward cards. Inside has my full size wallet, cell phone, reading glasses, lip balm, etc and a water bottle. It's just the right size for necessities and a bit more.

I am so disappointed.
I have used Vera Bradley for the past 20 years. I have used On the Go for longer than I can remember. I excitedly bought my spring purse and accessories with a gift card I got for my birthday as I have done for several years. This year a design change has made it so difficult to love my purse. Something as simple as the metal ring changing to a rectangle has made a huge difference. The straps continually slide and the strap grows longer and longer as the day goes on. One of my main reasons for using On the Go is the single strap, this design causes the straps to separates continually and it makes it hard to put on. I have written VB with my complaint, I don't think I will be buying a new one until this is fixed. :(

Worth A Second Look
I would be sad to see this retire. The first one I got in "Carnaby" awhile ago online, on sale. It was one of my first Vera purchases. For awhile, it didn't get much use as that particular print I felt was more for fall. At the same time I was REALLY getting use out of my new Pleated Tote. On The Go is NOT a tote. It is a true handbag. A "purse" if you will... On The Go is what I imagine all my aunts would want to use. It's a no nonsense bag to carry a BIT more than the bare necessities. If I'm going out shopping without the kids, On The Go is my bag. I can fit a coupon organizer, my wallet, a small bag of cosmetics, maybe some hand wipes or anti-bacterial and even a small point and shoot camera. Probably some sunglasses too. The side pockets are not meant to be huge. But they are convenient if you find you just need to shove something small in there real quick - a receipt, a parking validation, chapstick, small bottle of sanitizer. I brought it out of the closet recently as I didn't need anything bigger for awhile and I really liked it. Very functional. I found another one on sale at a the store today in "Lime's Up". Now I have a cheery spring/summer On The Go.

Great Bag With Its Ups and Downs
This bag is cute and it holds alot. I was looking for a bag that can hold my camera (normal not fancy), my phone and especially my sunglass case which is very bulky. This bag can hold it all and more for vacations! It is a very nice bag for a road trip and for a carry on bag for the airplane. The only thing I don't like about this bag is that it has a cardboard bottom which makes the bag look very bulky while having it as a crossbody. But other than that this bag is fantastic and I highly recommend this bag for anyone.

Great mid-size purse!
I've been using my On The Go bag (in Blue Bayou) for several months now, and it is about perfect for me! Not too big - and depending on what you carry - not too heavy. Strong and adjustable double-strap for carrying on my shoulder.
LOVE the outside pockets, but other posters are correct: the side pockets could be a bit larger. The problem is they are more narrow at the top opening than at the bottom, so little things 'sink' and are difficult to retrieve. I can't get my fingers deep in there while wearing the bag, so I have to take it off my shoulder to 'fish' - makes those 2 end pockets less handy.
(I measured: 2.5" at top opening, 3.5" across the bottom) I use one side pocket Only for my lip balm and car's valet key. The other one only has a tissue and cough drop. Other items ("big" keys) fit in the larger outside pocket. I would like to have the one inside zip pocket be divided (2 pouches - and not zip) instead of one, but having the 3 pouches on the other side is very helpful to keep small items organized. Overall, Vera's best design!

The BEST Vera bag ever!!
So many pockets for my this and that. I can fit my phone in a pocket inside or out and have a place for my sun glasses too. I can carry it over by shoulder or over my body. Lots of colours and patterns get compliments on every one i use. You have to try this bag for yourself. You will fall in love with this bag. Please don't ever stop making this bag, you'll break my heart.

Call it "the Carmie"!
I just received my On the Go bag in Dogwood (and matching European wallet which I could afford thanks to Vera's exceptional sales!) in the mail today and I could tell the moment I saw her, she was made especially for me! This is the style I have been searching forever for! It should be renamed after me!
I read a few of the reviews about the side pockets being small and not fitting a phone, but for us "dumb phone" users, it fits perfectly! And the adjustable strap is awesome for us short people... and offers some great versatility. I can't wait to carry it!
Thank you Vera! I am hooked!

I have FOUR! (4)
I have several Vera Bradley pieces, but only one of each - except this handbag! It is far and away the most beautiful, usable, lightweight handbag I've ever used. I carry it both cross-body and on shoulder,
The outside pockets are just the right size: favorite lipsticks in one, cell phone in the other. The interior carries everything I NEED. And it washes like a dream - always remembering to remove the hard bottom before washing: experience talking here!

When I first got On The Go I thought I made a big mistake. Now 3 bags later no mistake. I realized I didn't need to carry a huge bag. Fits my turn lock wallet, my cosmetic bag, glass case. Outside pockets fit my keys and iPhone. What more do you really need to carry. I have a few other things in the inside zipper pockets. Much happier carrying a smaller, lighter bag. Fits on your shoulder nicely and if you don't wear it on your shoulder the straps aren't that long that you can still carry it on your arm. Could the outside pockets be bigger? Maybe but I don't think they need to be. Only room for more junk. That's whats so great about this bag. I keep it junk free. Just the necessaries.

Side pockets too small
As many other reviews have noted, the side pockets are fairly useless. Phone won't fit, keys and sunglasses fall out. Really wanted to love this bag, but I just find it annoying.
