My New Favorite
I have been buying Vera Bradley for almost 20 years now. Way before they became a household name. I was very disappointed when they discontinued the Betsy and the Bowler bags (the new Bowler doesn't cut it sadly) and really couldn't find any good substitutes that appealed to me. Not to mention I dislike all these new patterns. (where, oh where, have patterns like Cambridge and Java Blue gone?) Much to my husband's dismay I started buying Coach and Dooneys. Well, I must say I LOVE the Edie Satchel, and the Canyon pattern. First Vera I have bought in over a year. This bag is deceiving. I can actually get quite a bit in it. My 7" tablet, zip around wallet, more lipsticks than I should be carrying, a lot of pens/pencils, various necessary items I use daily such as my inhaler, bottle of Advil, lotion, hand sanitizer, etc. and of course my phone goes in the front pocket. Everything fits well, and stays where I put it, making it easy to get to things when I need them. Does it hold as much as a huge Coach bag? No. But to me it will hold as much as my beloved Betsy.
Also, I must mention the straps are generous. I hate short straps. I need to be able to heft the bag over my shoulder with one hand and it sit there comfortably without dropping to my elbow. This fits the bill, even with a jacket on.
I couldn't be happier with this bag. Maybe with some more patterns like Canyon I will be able to revive my Vera Bradley habit.

my first VB disappointment
I have/have had around two dozen Vera Bradley purses/totes, and this is the first one in which I have been disappointed. I love everything about it, except the closure. The flap is simply too short and the magnet too weak to keep it closed. It's fine when the bag is empty, but with only a modest amount in it, the magnet pops loose, the flap slides up, and in no time the purse is open, and contents of the bag are exposed. If I put in the amount of "stuff" I normally carry, the magnet on the flap does not reach its counterpart. This is definitely not one of the better VB bags for everyday use.
