Annual Outlet Sale: A Guide to Fort Wayne

If you’re counting down the days until our Annual Outlet Sale (just twenty!), you’re not alone. This year’s Sale is going to be better than ever with an expanded selection of leather styles, rows upon rows of pattern favorites and a chance to meet our Co-founder, Barbara Bradley Baekgaard. You can learn more about our Sale here.

Fort Wayne

The Annual Outlet Sale is held in our hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Whether this is your first year joining us or you’re an out-of-town Sale veteran, it’s likely that you’re going to be spending a few days with us. Need some suggestions on how to fill your time outside of the Sale? No worries, we’ve got you! From where to eat and drink to where to shop and play, we compiled our favorite local hot spots for your shopping crew’s trip to Fort Wayne.

Where to Eat

Fort Wayne: Where to eat

This is hard to narrow down since there are so many great local eateries in Fort Wayne — but we managed to choose our top three picks. First is Fort Wayne’s Famous Coney Island. This is an absolute must if you find yourself downtown and in need of a quick meal. There’s a reason this local gem has been around for 100 years!

If you’re downtown and want a nice sit-down meal, Don Hall’s Gas House is an unrivaled favorite. With a menu ranging from sandwiches and wings to a juicy porterhouse and divine lobster tails, there is something for everyone at this Fort Wayne fave.

If you’re a die-hard planning to attend multiple sessions and need to slip out for a meal close to the Coliseum, Casa Ristoranti Italiano will be your go-to. Just steps away from the Sale, Casa gives you a taste of Italy with its expansive menu of pastas, soups, salads, sandwiches and so much more. We promise you won’t be disappointed.

Where to Drink

Fort Wayne: Where to drink

If the excitement of scoring the best deals hasn’t left you completely exhausted by the end of the day (share your secrets, please), you may be ready to hit the town. If your girls are looking for the best place to grab a drink, downtown is the way to go! From cocktails to craft beer, our local bars and breweries boast the libations and atmosphere to make your stop the most memorable of your trip (second to the Sale, of course).

If you’re a martini girl, you can’t go wrong with Club Soda or Main Street Bistro. With the best dessert martinis in town (according to our Social Media team), you’re bound to stay awhile to try a few kinds. As an added bonus, these two martini bars are about a block apart, so you’ll easily be able to try a drink at one, then walk over to the other.

If breweries are your jam, you’ll love Junk Ditch Brewing Company. Nestled in a quiet corner just off of downtown, this new bar and restaurant has quickly become a weekend hot spot. With both house and guest beer on tap, as well as a small wine selection, this is a great option for those who want a casual night out.

Where to Shop

Fort Wayne: Where to shop

Can’t get enough shopping? We feel you. After the Sale, swing by our full-line store at Jefferson Pointe. With multiple restaurants, department stores and specialty retailers, you can easily spend hours at this outdoor mall. If you’re attending the Sale on a ticketed day, present your ticket at our Jefferson Pointe store to receive 25% off your full-priced purchase! If local boutiques are your thing, stop by The Find downtown. With various brands of clothing, accessories, gifts and even S’Well bottles, you’re sure to find something you love.

Where to Indulge

Fort Wayne: Where to indulge

A mini vacay with your girlfriends means its time to treat yourself! Our long-running favorite place to snag a decadent dessert is local chocolatier DeBrand Fine Chocolates. Whether you’re yearning for a gelato sundae (we recommend the raspberry) or just want a few small truffles as a souvenir, you’re sure to be wowed by the luxurious experience and melt-in-your-mouth treats.

If your dessert habits are about going for the ‘gram, the new downtown ice cream parlor Yummi Bunni will not disappoint. Known for their classic ice cream sandwiched between two halves of a glazed donut (oh yes, you read that correctly), this trendy new hangout is almost guaranteed to have a line out the door. This is taking ‘treat yourself’ to an entirely new level.

Where to Entertain

Fort Wayne: Where to entertain

With your evenings and weekend wide open, you may want to pencil in a few activities outside of the Sale. If crafting and cocktails is your dream combination, Wine & Canvas will give you a night to remember. If you’re an evening shopper and have the morning and afternoon free, our Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is reopening for the season on Saturday, April 22! Don’t let the name fool you — this zoo is not just for the kiddos. Our zoo is actually one of the top ten in the nation and sets the bar in environmentally-friendly practices and global conservation! If you weren’t already convinced: you can feed the giraffes and get the perfect selfie in the process.

Country Heritage Winery & Vineyard just north of town is where we always stop by when we come. The wine, staff and atmosphere is welcoming and beautiful.
