We’re so fortunate to have Design Assistant Thuvan D. on our team. A lady of many talents, she is, among many impressive things, an amazing nail artist. “My family has a salon and I wanted to contribute,” she said. “So, during the summer, I went to beauty school to get my License of Cosmetology. Design was my forte already, so this was a great way to expand my skills.”
Her most challenging artwork was admittedly, “These Vegas nails I did! The client had cards, dice, poker chips, a martini glass and the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign, which was so challenging because of all the detail.“
Working at the Vera Bradley Design Center, it’s only natural her coworkers would have a strong interest in Thuvan’s special skills. “The ladies in Product Development ask for tips and techniques, and I enjoy answering their questions. They love getting their nails done; especially in Vera Bradley prints. The gel nail colors (shellac) are very popular because they last up to 2-3 weeks, which is awesome.”
For this post, Thuvan used the interior design from Heather as inspiration and created a magnificent manicure that’s fun, perfectly purple and – best of all – fairly easy to recreate at home. Follow her instructions for delightful digits that come with DIY bragging rights.
Before you dip into the polish, Thuvan has a few final words of advice. “You need a steady hand, patience and an open mind when designing anything on a canvas this small. Start out with a basic design and build your skills from there, and remember, practice makes perfect.” You’ll be painting petals before you know it!
[Feel free to pick your own polishes. For this post, we used Maybelline Color Show in Tenacious Teal, Porcelain Party, Go Go Green, Fuschia Fever and Shocking Seas.]
