Color for the community

A day of caringSometimes, it takes going out of the office to get the job done. The 21st annual United Way Day of Caring is the perfect occasion to gather as a community and pitch in on a collective effort to make things a little brighter and, therefore, a little better for those around us.

This was Vera Bradley’s fifth year as a proud participant. Our 35 volunteers from five different home office locations were divided between two local schools and Whitington Homes and Services for Children and Families for a day of paintbrushes, wheel barrels and prettification.

For more than half of our volunteers, the day’s projects included a USA map for the playground at an elementary school, and front entrance and soffit painting, landscaping and mulching, curb painting and an indoor mural at a local middle school.

The Whitington Homes and Services for Children and Families received lovely landscaping and a fresh coat of paint for visitation rooms, the kitchen and living room, and offices, as well as some colorful new Placemats, Napkins and Ribbon Boards for staff offices.

“Day of Caring is a perfect example of our ongoing corporate philanthropy efforts,” Catherine Hill, Director of the Vera Bradley Foundation and Corporate Philanthropy said. “Our company and individuals give their time and really use their talents to enhance the community.”
