Emerald pretty

Perhaps the most influential voice in all things colorful, Pantone declared Emerald (17-5641) the official Color of the Year for 2013. There’s no argument here; this lush hue screams elegance yet hints at a playful fashion sense. In honor of the recent accolade, Vera Bradley Trend Reporter, Liz, pulled together four outfits marrying this regal shade with our quartet of Spring colors, yielding something fun for everyone.

Having a hard time finding a way to wear the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year? Well, don’t be shy. Just by adding a few Emerald pieces to your closet, this lively color of hope can regenerate you and your wardrobe. Go green!

Emerald Pretty

1. spring staple

[Midnight Blues]
The easiest way to add green into your wardrobe, believe it or not, is with denim. With all the colorful denim available right now, it’s easy to pick your favorite hue and wear it with a classic white blouse and tan trench coat. Match your shoe to your mood and your green denim and you have just turned a classic look into something incredibly modern.

2. work appropriate

[Plum Crazy]
Bring a few basics together for a work look that is comfortable and chic: An oversized green sweater paired with a white pencil skirt. Neutral-colored shoes – we love a good bootie – and a belt with a muted pattern add a little flare to the outfit. A classic trench coat and lightweight scarf pull the look together when spring showers are approaching.

3. spring soiree

[Jazzy Blooms]
A kelly green dress in a classic shape, like the sheath style you see here with the added adorable cowl-like neck for interest, is a simple addition to your closet that you will be able to wear from season to season. For an evening out or special event in the spring, pair the dress with neutral pumps in heather gray, a pretty partner for Jazzy Blooms, a large gray scarf to wrap around your shoulders in case there is still a bite in the air and deep green statement earrings (à la Beyonce on Inauguration Day). Add a black jacket, tights and boots to get the most out of this look on cooler days. When the temperatures rise, ditch the scarf and add some delicate bracelets and bangles.

4. weekend wear

[Go Wild]
A military green jacket has become a wardrobe staple, and must be added to that list of coats you have to have on hand. This color is just the right shade of a neutral green and pairs perfectly with Go Wild. Pull out other shades in Go Wild’s neutral palette with a black or dark denim, a white or tan shirt, or mix it up with a stripe. Warm gold accessories help punctuate the golden yellow in the print. Add your favorite pair of sneakers, and you are ready for a stroll to the local farmers market.

The colors are great, as are the styles. But, unless you are 102 lbs, they won’t look so great.
