United Day of Caring

Vera Bradley partnered with the United Way on Thursday, August 2, for United Day of Caring, a day set aside for members of the city to come together, roll up their sleeves and pitch in to make the local community a little more beautiful.

More than 75 employees spent the day split between the local women’s shelter and a Fort Wayne elementary school, landscaping, painting and restoring a bit of color to weathered and worn playground equipment.

The final task of the day was recreating a sketch by Graphic Designer Matt H. The adorable wall mural of students sliding down books and teeter-tottering on pencils will welcome the students back when they return in the fall.

I live in a very small country town. We have a committee called “Community That Cares” Each year we have bake sales, Fish Fries, and 50/50 drawings to raise money for the town’s 4th of July fireworks display! Now thats pretty colorful :)

That’s wonderful! We’re currently planning our Days of Caring event for our company’s upcoming United Way Campaign in September. It is always a great time and so gratifying.
