Created by Kappa Delta Sorority on behalf of the Confidence Coalition, International Girls Day is an occasion designed to “empower girls to think big, embrace their unique talents, love themselves and accept one another.”
From our collaboration with Kappa Delta, we wanted young ladies to walk away inspired, knowing they are amazing just the way they are, and motivated to set goals and work hard to reach them, while fueling their confidence and encouraging them to celebrate their strengths.
The Shops of Saddle Creek Store was flooded with uplifting energy November 16, as guests enjoyed light refreshments, a small gift and had the opportunity to sign “I Can Do” posters (a declaration that they can do anything). Vera Bradley also donated 50% of the net proceeds from the evening to the Girl Scouts Heart of the South and the Confidence Coalition.
But of all the evening’s entertainment, perhaps two of the highest notes came when guest speakers Patricia R. Miller, Co-founder of Vera Bradley, and Disney star Allisyn Arm delivered their speeches. Patricia told the Vera Bradley story, revisited how she accomplished her dreams and offered advice to the young crowd on how they could accomplish their own goals.
Star-struck fans listened intently to Allisyn, 14, who plays Zora on the hit show, Sonny with a Chance. Signed to Don Buchwald & Associates, Inc. at just 4 1/2 years old, the young actress is certainly a source of inspiration.
A special thank you to all of the organizers, guest speakers and attendees who made this day so special and empowering!
